Luxury VS Sleek - Cameron's Crown & Chloe's Celica

January 21, 2019

If you were hoping to meet another Toyota power couple, you're in luck!
These two car fanatics Chloe and Cameron showed off their prides and joy to us.

If you're looking for a luxury vehicle but also wanting to kick back in style and complete comfort, then the Toyota crown is for you. The heart to this beast is a 1jzgte VVTI motor. Over in Tokyo you might see these luxury vehicles as taxi's.

Cameron's 2001 Toyota Crown Estate Athlete V was purchased in late 2018 from Japan and then imported to Australia, making him the first Australian owner of this masterpiece. This spacious luxury vehicle comes complete with DVD player and a sunroof.

Sporting the rare original colour blackish green, the photos do not do this paint colour justice. Everything in this vehicle is still in Japanese, including majority of the dash controls as well as the entertainment and climate control unit.

Turn this car on and it will start speaking fluent Japanese (probably one of our favourite aspects of this car). As the car is still factory, even the satnav displays a map of Japan and can not be changed. Sporting sought after black luxury interior from factory including electric reclining rear seats and a boot mounted air purifier.

Definitely a massive change from his previous daily which was a Mazda 121. Cameron has spent the last three months changing the engine back to standard.

Whilst Cameron is not interested in heavily modifying the car further, a bigger turbo and an aftermarket ECU may be on the cards. Some of the mods included are aftermarket front bar and grille, rear spoiler, HKS front coilovers, upgraded rear coilovers, HKS intake, Tom's strut brace, Tom's under chasis brace, Tom's exhaust and 19" AME wheels.

While fuel economy may not be the winning factor (pffft, who buys cars for fuel economy?) Cameron tells us he loves the kick of the turbo. And we do too! The sound of that flutter is heavenly.

Also turning heads is Chloe's 2003 Toyota Celica SX which is the seventh generation of Toyota Celicas.

Purchased in 2016 by Chloe with only 80,000kms her Toyota Celica SX is the cleanest Celica we've laid our eyes on now only sitting at 110,000kms.

With a 2zzge engine with vvtli, this particular model also came with Toyota super-strut suspension. Vvtli is basically an enhanced version of the vvti that can alter valve lift.

Being only the second owner of this beauty, the first owner paid a whooping $44.5K brand new also adding a TRD/Sportivo lipkit on as an accessory when purchased. Now, we all remember the sex spec days. So of course, no celica would be complete without 18" sex spec rims.

The old rims on this "SXCELI" (old number plates, to stay with the theme) were the exact same brand and style of rims that were on "2SEXY" by Mighty car mods.

Once Chloe took ownership the chrome rims were removed (bye sex spec celica, you will be missed), a Sony headunit was installed. She also installed a K&N Typhoon intake and of course, some slap stickers (for that extra HP, as we all know).

We've been told the goals for this year is to lower it, install sway bars, possibly change the headers and get a tune for maximum kw output.

Seen as her forever car, Chloe hopes to eventually turn this black beauty into a track car as she's had her eye on it's younger brother, the ST205 GT-Four. Manufactured between the years 1994-1999 packing a 2L Turbo 4 Cylinder engine.

It was great to hang out with these two and document their pride and joys.
